Good Grief!

I have been so busy with that thing called life I haven’t had time or energy to write here on the Blog. The last regular post was in May, FFS!! SO many things have happened in our corner of the world, some of them were important, some were less so and others were nothing to write home about. Here I am on a Monday morning, more than halfway through July and I finally have the time and energy to try to catch you all up on the happenings in the Sand Hills.

The Little Witch’s birthday party was a huge success. She had a real party on May 11th before school was out with some of her friends from school. Since her birthday always falls on the week or weekend of Memorial Day it is difficult to do anything with her friends simply because it is the first actual holiday of the summer and families tend to plan a trip or other activity. That means not many people would be able to come to a birthday party during the same time frame. This year after having changed things up the party was awesome.

Then Papa, Mommy and I took her to Great Wolf Lodge with an added surprise. We were able to have her very best BFF go with us which made her over the moon. (As a side note here: I personally didn’t enjoy that trip. I felt the cost did not justify the accommodations and activities. IMO, the trips to the beach not only give us great lodging but so many more additional activities at a much more reasonable cost. So, we’ll be going back to the beach for future birthday celebrations).

My doctor has begun the tests to determine if I have Fibromyalgia or another issue. So far we’ve ruled out anything related to my thyroid, and last week I had my first-ever MRI. That also came back normal. Once again here is where I tell you I am so pleased with this doctor. For the first time in I can’t remember how long there is someone that is really listening to my concerns and not trying to treat me for things that aren’t wrong. I have a section in my planner that is designed to keep track of medical appointments and symptoms. It even has a graph to record pain levels each day, along with what I do to try an keep the pain under control. I color-coded the graph to show the different types of pain and where they are located on my body. This has helped the doctor determine which tests he needs to do and how to work on a treatment plan.

It’s been so hot and humid here (as well as the rest of the world!) none of us has the energy to do much, even the pool is too warm to offer much relief! If I have to leave the house for any reason we try to do so in the morning and are back home before the extreme heat warnings go into effect. Thankfully, our local temps are supposed to drop from the high 90’s (with a real feel of 105 to 108) to the mid to upper 80’s this week. This drop in temps is coming after 2 days of rain and thunderstorms. And no matter how many times we water the outside plants and trees, they look like they are dying. I’ll be very surprised if they make it through this weather.

Since it’s also been too hot to do much in the way of cooking and trying new recipes, we’ve mostly been grilling or making a bunch of different salads. With Jimmy being on the road for up to 3 weeks at a time, we don’t need to do much cooking. When he’s home I make sure each evening he’s here that he has a home-cooked meal after having to eat mostly fast food, which is all you can find in the truck stops. Yes, he does have non-perishables in the truck and a microwave to heat things up, but how many times can one eat canned clam chowder (among other things) before you just stop eating all the way around?

I haven’t been neglecting the magic side of my life, I’ve read a few books, two of them I’ve written a review for and those have already been posted here on the blog. Currently, I’m working through Keeping Her Keys: An Introduction To Hekate’s Modern Witchcraft by Cyndi Brennan. I LOVE this book I have both the paperback (so I can make notes in the margins as I go) and Kindle edition and once I’ve finished it I will also post a review on it as well. I also have a few others that have either been sent to me to review or I’ve purchased after reading the existing Amazon reviews. Once I finish reading them I’ll post a review and give you my thoughts on each of them.

So, now you are mostly up to date on the things going on in my world. The only thing I’ve left out is writing about the time I’ve been spending on any social media sites. Yes, I still check in throughout the day, and I share some of the things I’ve come across to The Feisty Witch page, but honestly I’m so tired of seeing so much nasty negative stuff. No matter which side is posting, the other side can’t figure out how to deal with anything unless it’s to ridicule and demean others. I absolutely hate what has become of the US. I hate that people on both sides would rather believe lies and conspiracy theories than to actually research and find the truth to what is being said. So, to maintain even a tiny level of sanity and calm in MY corner of the world, I stay away.

As I close this out, I’m sending out a lot of love, laughter, and OH SO MUCH MAGIC to each and every one of you and wishing your Monday will bring everything you could hope for! Please continue to be open to the Blessings Both Dark & Light coming your way! Love you to the moon and back!
