So it seems Mark Zuckerberg in all his infinite wisdom has decided to make more unnecessary changes to FB. Yes, I KNOW there is a ton of concern over privacy issues and that I can understand. However, the changes that are already rolling out may or may not take care of that.
Here’s a link to the new shit: Facebook Changes
I LIKE Facebook just the way it is, I LOVE being able to open up to my Newsfeed and scroll through to see what is going on in the world around me. In this upcoming change, they are going to be doing away with the entire Newsfeed and making it so more group and messenger chats are the way to go. I don’t want to have to go to a specific person’s Timeline or group or messenger to see what is happening with them. I don’t want to be in a group chat, and I don’t have any idea what is going to happen to the Pages function.
One of the changes has already been implemented. Before yesterday, when I wanted to see what was happening in some of the groups I belong to, I clicked on the Groups in the left sidebar and was taken to a page that listed ALL the groups I belong to. This morning, I did the same and was taken to a page with TONS of “suggested groups” with the groups I belong to mostly hidden in a list on the left side of the page. And where before I could see how many new posts had been made in each group, The only option now is a “blue dot” indicating there is a new post.
Yes, I am bitching, yes I understand there is a shit ton of garbage attached to Facebook and yes, I know it’s a free platform and we must live by the rules and changes. But, no I don’t. I’m moving to MeWe. I’ll keep my Facebook profile and pages for a while, but I’m done with the unnecessary controlling changes made without any thought to how we as the actual users of the platform feel.
I’ve already created a personal profile and a page for The Feisty Witch on MeWe and added a direct link social media icon over there on the right side of this blog. Consider this your invitation to join me as I tell Mark Zuckerberg exactly what I think of him.
